How long has it been since a car has really moved us? I don’t mean just getting us from point A to point B; I am talking about that visceral feeling that we get when we first see our car in the morning, or when we open its door, get inside and grip the steering wheel. A car should make you feel alive and it should make you want to drive it anywhere and not ever get out of it. The new 2014 Scion tC does just that; it’s a car that is as spirited as the owner and likes to show off on the roads.
Among our many videos of cars, we have posted some here of our test car, the 2014 Scion tC 3-door Lift back. We feel that the videos and pictures will help animate our review and perhaps entice you enough to check one out yourself.

The all new Scion tC 3-door Lift back is a particularly beautiful car and in Cement, which is the color of our test car, it’s even more amazing. Our test model has the 2.5 liter, 4 cylinder which puts out a respectable 179 horsepower giving the tC great acceleration and a confident feel when passing other vehicles. The low, wide stance of the tC helps it grip the road and provides more than adequate handling due to its advanced suspension package, 18 inch ten-spoke alloy wheels and Toyo Proxes giving it the right feel and look that buyers in this segment are looking for.
Given the car’s relatively small size and highly tuned engine, you would think that the fuel economy ratings would be much better than the 23 mpg city/31 mpg highway advertised. Aside from the strangely low fuel economy and the lack of an options package, the tC is sold as is with a “fully loaded” standard package courtesy of Toyota, the 2014 Scion tC 3-door Lift back is a very worthy car for any driver.

2014 Scion tC interior features

The interior is nicely appointed and although it does come off looking a little on the cheap side, the staring price of the 2014 Scion tC is just over $20K so that is normal. Our test car has the charcoal cloth interior with the Pioneer 8 speaker sound system which has become the norm for Toyota these days. It has an incorporated USB port/iPod connection and offers good sound quality even during highway driving. The interior is comfortable and the cargo space, being 14.7 cubic feet, is ample enough for groceries or luggage for a short trip.

Considering the tC is a good all-around sports coupe, it has a higher percentage of male buyers. Just taking a look online at all of the cool car pictures of the 2014 Scion tC, you’ll see for yourself that it’s a highly male populated arena. That isn’t to say that the ladies wouldn’t mind driving this Toyota either; they do end up buying their fair share as the 2014 Scion tC is Toyota’s second best seller.

If you are considering a sports coupe and haven’t looked at Toyota yet, what are you waiting for? Our test car was fun to drive, priced affordably and offers more value for your money than any other sports coupe on the market. We give the 2014 Scion tC 3-door Lift back high marks for being a great car at a great price.
