2016 Chevrolet Silverado High Country 4WD crew review

If you ask any truck guy what they think the most popular, best-selling truck of all time is, they will quickly say their own personal favorite. Whether they are a Ford driver, Dodge driver or they prefer a Toyota, the numbers tell a different story.

Year-end truck sales figures and resale values all show the Chevy Silverado as the most popular, best-selling truck ever and for good reason. Chevrolet trucks are durable, offer features and capabilities the other manufacturers don’t and they look good going down the road. Our test vehicle, the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado High Country 4WD crew came fully loaded with a 5.3L, V8 Ecotec3 engine and a full list of creature comforts many of us wouldn’t have expected on a truck just a decade ago. All of those options come with a heavy price tag: $59,645 as tested!

2016 Chevrolet Silverado High Country review

So does this new 2016 Chevrolet Silverado High Country live up to its namesake? We took it for a drive and came back with mixed reviews. As for comfort and the ability to seat you and four adults comfortably, the Silverado does just that. It offers a comfortable yet firm ride and gives the driver the feeling of safety on the road and traction off. The interior is covered in leather with a solid feel to the doors, handles and dashboard controls. Our test vehicle with the navigation system which as easy to use and the Silverado’s intuitive controls made learning the dashboard layout easy even while driving.

What are some of those creature comforts we mentioned? On the outside, there are better-integrated headlights with bi-halogen projectors and LED accents, a remote locking tailgate, as well as optional power-retractable side steps. An all-new 8-speed automatic transmission is standard on Silverado’s with the 5.3L engine and it even gets better gas mileage than last year’s model giving it the best fuel economy of any V8 pickup. Combine that with best-in-class tow ratings and you have the best-selling truck in the industry.

The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado High Country pictures you see online and in print don’t come close to seeing this truck in person. The sheer size of it and the redesigned grill give truck fans something to look forward to when shopping the dealership lots. The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado High Country 4WD crew is a truck that our staff would like to have around and we are sure many truck buyers will feel the same.
