Porsche will showcased the new 2016 Porsche 911 R during the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Until than, a few pictures have surfaced the web and we have had the chance to publish them. The new 2016 Porsche 911 R is only for the purist ones.

2016 Porsche 911 R – Engine performance

According to the first rumors, the new German model will get the 4.0 liter naturally-aspirated six-cylinder engine. The same unit powers the 911 GT3 RS and can offer 500 horsepower. But this time, Porsche has decided to offer a manual gearbox instead of the seven speed PDK transmission. And this is a big surprise for the fans.

The body of the 2016 Porsche 911 R is sourced from the GT3 RS but it doesn’t offer some aerodynamic elements. We don’t see that massive rear wing and those generous air intakes. The new 911 R has got dual red stripes that extend from the hood to the roof and to the engine cover. We also have noticed some black Porsche decals while the headlights and the taillights have received a dark tint treatment.

Inside the cabin you will notice the new gear knob and that retro–flavored black and white checkered upholstery. According to the same rumors, the new 2016 Porsche 911 R will be built in just 500 units. The same voices have told us that all the units are already sold and the price for one example was 160.000 USD.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the original 911 R, Porsche’s latest 911 derivative will be showcased tomorrow in Geneva.
