Subaru unveiled at the 2014 North American International Auto Show the brand-new 2015 WRX STI model. On the outside, the Japanese model is featuring a unique aerodynamic body kit. It includes new front and rear spoilers, unique side skirts, bigger air inlets and a massive rear wing mounted on the trunk.
Under the hood of the 2015 Subaru WRX STI is a 4 cylinder 2.5 liter boxer engine rated at 305 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 393 Nm peak of torque available at 4,000 rpm.
The engine resources are put to the ground via an updated six speed manual transmission. The power is sent to the wheels via the new symmetrical all-wheel drive system with a multi-mode driver-controlled center mechanical differential.
The Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) powertrain management system allows the driver to tailor the car’s driving characteristics by choosing from among three selectable modes – “Intelligent,” “Sport” and “Sport Sharp” – using a rotary dial on the center console. SI-DRIVE alters vehicle performance characteristics by regulating the engine control module and by fine-tuning the electronic throttle control system.
Subaru also planned a Launch Edition limited to 1,000 units. All of them will be offered with the traditional WR Blue color and gold BBS wheels. It will be available at the dealers starting this April.
