The 2016 BMW M4 GTS is already sold out, but the German car manufacturer has managed to take a few laps around the mighty Nurburgring. Jorg Weidinger, BMW M chassis development test driver, was responsible for this task and he managed to do an incredible job.

According to BMW, the 2016 M4 GTS lapped the Nurburgring in around 7:28 minutes (the exact time is between 7:27:51 and 7:28:49). Under these conditions, the 2016 BMW M4 GTS will be among the 40 fastest cars on the Green Hell. More than that it is faster than supercars like Porsche 911 GT2, Ferrari 458 Italia, Koenigsegg CCX, and others.

“The BMW M4 GTS is indeed a thrilling overall package. This is not just because of its formidable engine but the three-way coilover suspension also plays an important role. The kinematics, tires, aerodynamics, and the design of the ‘driver’s workplace – all of these components are coordinated to work together perfectly”, said Jorg Weidinger.

2016 BMW M4 GTS – Engine and performances

The most important part of the 2016 BMW M4 GTS is the engine and the dynamic part. According to the German car manufacturer, under the hood of the M4 GTS is the same six cylinder 3.0 liter engine. This time it has a water injection system and some tweaks that enables the unit to deliver 500 horsepower at 6.250 rpm and 600 Nm peak of torque between 4.000 and 5.500 rpm.

The engine is matted to a special developed M transmission with double clutch and seven speed that is able to shift with no power loss. Thanks to a Launch Control function, the 2016 BMW M4 GTS can sprint from stand still to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds being billed as the fastest production BMW of all time.
