Nissan’s global product chief Andy Palmer stated in an interview that the company is working on a Nismo version of the second generation Qashqai. According to Palmer, the Qashqai Nismo will be more powerful than the Juke Nismo.
As you may have read, the Nissan Juke Nismo has 197 horsepower and 249 Nm peak of torque. Furthermore, Andy Palmer said that the Qashqai Nismo could make use of the upgraded 215 horsepower version of the 1.6 liter DOHC turbocharged engine from the Juke Nismo RS.
The upcoming Qashqai Nismo will also get updated suspensions, probably new brakes and other tweaks made to improve ride and handling. According to Palmer, the Nissan Qashqai Nismo could be unveiled before the end of next year.
“It’s too early to get a steer on Nissan Qashqai Nismo prices, but it’s likely to come in a single-spec with all the bells and whistles. Considering that the flagship new Qashqai costs £27,845 – and that there’s a £1900 gap between a top-spec Juke and its Nismo derivative – we’re hoping the Qashqai Nismo will arrive in showrooms at less than £30,000”, added Andy Palmer.
