DeLorean DMC-12 will re-enter production in 2017

If you love the Back to the Future movie franchise than you will be glad to hear that the famous DeLorean DMC-12 will re-enter production in 2017.

Texas-based DeLorean Motor Company has announced that the limited run production of replicas will start in the first quarter of 2017. The car has passed the Low Volume Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Act of 2015 and as a result they are having the permission to deliver up to 325 replicas per year of models that are at least 25 years old.

You should have in mind that the company doesn’t really have any connections with the original DeLorean automaker. The will built replicas but there are going to be some important changes.

One of the modification will consist in replacing the old V6 2.85 liter 130 horsepower engine with a more powerful one that will deliver between 350 and 400 horsepower. There are many chances that to see also a V6 engine due to packaging advantages.

Another important modification will be on the safety side. The new DeLorean DMC-12 will also have larger brakes and probably a few safety systems. The interior will feature modern accessories and as a result, the old cassette player will be gone.

According to the manufacturer, they will made only one car per month during the first year of production. If everything will go according to the plan, the production process will be boosted in 2018.

The new DeLorean DMC-12 is likely to cost around $100,000.
