Toyota has unveiled the all-new 2014 Aygo model at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. A distinctive and characterful design – dubbed J-Playful in reference to Japan’s hip youth culture – and a wealth of customization options show how Toyota has made fun a key element in crafting its new city car.
At the same time new Aygo builds on the qualities that made the original such a success throughout its lifetime, keeping the car compact, nimble and reliable, with genuinely low running costs. The latter are supported by revision to its award-winning three-cylinder 1.0-litre VVT-i petrol engine to secure class-leading fuel economy and CO2 emissions.
Thanks to an “X” graphic makes the model look quite interesting and unique. The revamped Aygo has a sloping beltline and an integral rear spoiler while body style choices will be limited to three and five doors as it seems Toyota hasn’t developed an open-top version like its French relatives. At the back we notice a hexagonal tailgate with the bumper extends to the more muscular rear wheel arches making the car look bigger than it actually is.

Power comes exclusively from an updated variant of Toyota’s three-cylinder 1.0-liter petrol engine which now delivers 68 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 95 Nm peak of torque at 4,300 rpm to the 14- or 15-inch alloys.
Drag coefficient is down from 0.30 to 0.29 which has helped improve fuel economy to 57.2 mpg US with corresponding CO2 emissions of 95 g/km.
